What It’s for
A good skin care routine targets multiple skin concerns and signs of aging.
Advanced Dermatology will help you achieve flawless looking skin by addressing:
Uneven Skin Tone
Brown spots appear as a result of prolonged sun exposure. The number 1 secret to youthful looking skin is a flawless complexion. Uneven skin tone can add 10-15 years to your age. Don’t hide imperfections with foundation or concealer.
Lines and Wrinkles
Problems like stubborn wrinkles on the forehead, unattractive crows feet around the eyes, laugh lines extending from mouth to the chin… and dry, aging skin.
Loss of Firmness
Collagen keeps the skin smooth and firm.
Youthful skin has an abundance of collagen and elastin to keep the skin smooth, firm and plump.
Sadly, collagen production halves by the age of 35. This results in loss of firmness and elasticity. Therefore, it’s important to prevent collagen loss. Why? Gradually, this results in sagging contours and loss of density.
Sagging Contour / Loss of Density
The more volume in your skin, the less lines and wrinkles appear. As we age, our body’s production of collagen and elastin — two proteins that keep the skin firm, plump and youthful – slows down. As a result, your skin loses volume. At the same time, the layer of skin beneath the dermis begins to thin.
This shows up on the skin’s surface as wrinkles, sagginess, and a loss of radiance.
Dark Shadows and Tired Eyes
Tired of people telling you that you look tired. Dark circles and tired eyes are caused by a combination of extra melanin production, thinning skin around the eyes and enlarged blood vessels.
Under Eye Bags and Puffiness
Under eye bags occur naturally with age as a result of thinning skin and loss of firmness. Puffiness occurs due to inflammation and excess fat deposits.
Neck and Chest
The loss of collagen and elastin eventually causes the skin around the neck to droop. The neck area has less fatty tissue to hold everything together.
Your skin ages as you age
20’s. Prevention is key.
At this stage, you may begin to notice fine lines around your eyes, uneven pigmentation and blemishes. Although collagen keeps your skin smooth and firm, your skin will lose about 1.5% of its collagen each year after the age of 20! Sun damage will also start showing up, in the form of hyperpigmentation.
30’s. Nip aging in the bud or regret it later.
During this time in your life, the first dramatic signs of aging will surface in the form of noticeable fine lines, wrinkles, creases wrinkles on the forehead and around the lips. The upper eyelids may also begin to droop due to loss of elasticity. Further, the cumulative sun damage from your teens and 20’s will finally start to show in the form of visible dark spots.
Unfortunately, these issues will only become worse over time, because your collagen levels are decreasing every year. By 35, your skin will have lost about half of its collagen. The deterioration of collagen and elastin will eventually lead to further loss of firmness and deeper wrinkles, and skin that sags dramatically.
Additionally, your moisture barrier will have become significantly weakened by your mid-30’s. This will make your skin drier, and will keep your skin cells from functioning efficiently to repair sun damage.
40’s. Restore your skin to its youthful state.
This is when gravity and thinning skin begin to take their toll on the face and neck. This is largely caused by the loss of volume due to deterioration of collagen, elastin and other fibres that keep the skin plump. As a result, the skin around your jaw line and cheeks becomes thinner and sags downward.
You will also notice wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and brows, even when your face is completely relaxed. These lines have the unfortunate effect of also causing dark circles to appear more visible, because the wrinkles draw attention to the eyes.
Additionally, you will begin to see deeper lines around the mouth. You’ll also notice that your skin looks rough and crepey.
50’s, 60’s, 70’s. Fight gravity, loss of firmness and blotchiness
The skin’s underlying structure breaks down dramatically at this stage in your life, robbing your face of definition and firmness. The surface of your skin becomes paper thin (that’s why they call it “crepey” skin),- and the skin becomes too thin to hold underlying tissues in place, which can significantly change the shape of your face.
Another problem is that the skin’s ability to regenerate itself weakens, causing further thinning and dullness of the skin texture.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
